Campaign Against Corruption
Corruption directly harms the people particularly the poor and undermine good governance democracy rule of law quality of public service infrastructure development and many more.
Anti corruption convention was sign by Sri Lanka on the 15th March 2004. Mere signing and ratify a convention is an executive action and Urban citizens request from the government that it be domesticated by enabling legislation.
This also covers many different forms of corruption such as bribery trading influence abuse of functions and various acts of corruption in the private sector.
This convention covers 5 main areas (1)preventive measures (2)criminalisation and law enforcement (3)International Corporation (4)asset recovery (5)technical assistant and information exchange.
Our intention is to make strong request to the government emphasizing the atmost relevancy to the country of introducing new legislation against corruption and creating public awareness on the need to implement anti corruption laws.
